Received September 20, 2007 <br /> <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br /> <br />I am the Assistant City Attorney for the City of La Porte, <br />Texas. On September 20, 2007 a request for disclosure of public <br />records was received by the City of La Porte. The requests seeks <br />"any document, including .drafts, containing recommended salary <br />structures, pay raises, and employee compensation for City of La <br />Porte for the 2007/2008 budget." Information responsive to the <br />request is enclosed with this letter, along with a copy of the <br />original request received by the City. <br /> <br />A potion of the requested information will be released to <br />the requestor, as indicated in the enclosed documentation. <br />However, the City of La Porte seeks to withhold from disclosure <br />the balance of the responsive information, for the reasons stated <br />herein. <br /> <br />The City of La Porte takes the position that the information <br />sought to be withheld is the subject of an ongoing policy review <br />and formulation process and as such does not constitute a <br />~~completed report, audit, evaluation, or investigation made of, <br />for, or by a governmental body r r under Section 552.022 of the <br />Public Information Act. At the request of the La Porte City <br />Council the office of the city manager was asked to perform an <br />internal salary and benefits survey for all job positions <br />currently employed with the City of La Porte. The city manager's <br />office, at the time of the writing of this letter, is in the <br />process of collecting necessary information from various <br />
