Council to consider approval or other action regarding Ordinance #3045 <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NEW <br />POLLING LOCATIONS FOR CITY OF LA PORTE ELECTIONS; CONTAINING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Ebow to approve Ordinance #3045 as <br />recommended by Staff. Second by Councilmember Malone. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Mosteit, Ebow, Moser, Clausen Malone, Beasley and <br />Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Engelken <br /> <br />11. Council to consider approval or other action adopting the amended Regulation of Sex <br />Offenders Residency.(#2006-2901B) <br /> <br />Police Chief Reffpresented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2006-2901B- AN <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2006-2901 OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 42 "MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES" OF <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE BY AMDENDING <br />ARTICLE V "REGULATION OF SEX OFFENDER RESIDENCY", MAKING IT <br />UNLAWFUL FOR CERTAIN SEX OFFENDERS TO RESIDE WITHIN 1000 FEET <br />OF PREMISES WHERE CHILDREN GATHER; PROVIDING FINDINGS OF FACT <br />AND OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO; PROVIDING AN AFFIRMATIVE <br />DEFENSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; CONTAINING AN OPEN MEETINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTION HEREOF; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Ebow to approve Ordinance 2006-2901-B as <br />presented By Chief Reff. Second by Council member Mosteit. Council to consider approval or other action authorizing the Mayor to execute the <br />Economic Development Grant Agreement between the City of La Porte and Wesmor <br />Cryogenic Manufacturing LTD. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Gretchen Black presented summary and <br />recommendation and answered Council's questions. <br />
