<br />Minutes of Regular Meeting, Public Hearing and Workshop of City Council on October 12, 2009 <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Mary Montezuma, 704 S. Holmes - The first contractor she hired to repair their house ran <br />off with their money, so they have since hired another contractor who reported that their <br />repairs should be completed within a month to ninety days. <br /> <br />Mary Riley, 401 N. 6th Street - Her delay is beyond their control at this time, she has <br />mailed certified letters to other relatives that hold interest in the property and is waiting to <br />hear back from them, so that Harris County can do a walk-through on her house. <br /> <br />Recommendation of Staff - Staff recommended tabling this item for a minimum of sixty <br />days allowing time for the owners of 704 S. Holmes and 401 N. 6th Streets to show <br />progress. <br /> <br />Mayor Beasley closed the Public Hearing at 6:38 p.m. <br /> <br />On advice of the City Attorney, Council agreed to reopen the Public Hearing, and to <br />continue Public Hearing for sixty (60) days. Mayor Beasley reopened the Public Hearing at <br />6:42 p.m., and noted it would remain open for sixty (60) days. Staff will review the buildings <br />located at 704 S. Holmes and 401 N. 6th Street, and report to Council, at the end of the <br />sixty (60) day period. There were no exceptions. <br /> <br />8. Council agreed to pull Item 8 from the agenda. <br /> <br />9. Council to consider approval or other action regarding a resolution appointing members to <br />the Houston-Galveston Area Council - (Res. 2009-10) - Mayor Beasley <br /> <br />Mayor Beasley presented summary and recommendation and answered Councils' <br />questions. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Leonard to the leave representatives the same as <br />2009 by reappointing Councilmember Engelken as the representative and Mayor Beasley <br />as Alternate for the 2010 H-GAC. A second was made by Councilmember Clausen. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Leonard, Engelken, Mosteit, Rigby, Moser, Clausen, Black and Mayor Beasley <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Malone <br /> <br />10. Receive Monthly Drainage Report from City Staff - S. Gillett <br /> <br />Public Works Director Steve Gillett presented the monthly Drainage Report. <br />11. Close Regular Meeting and open Workshop Meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Beasley closed Regular Meeting and opened Workshop Meeting at 6:48 p.m. <br />
