<br />Minutes of Regular Meeting and Workshop Meeting of La Porte City Council on January 25,2010 <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Council took Executive Session Item B. out of order at this time. See below for minute's <br />detail. 6: 21 p.m. <br /> <br />6. Petitions, Remonstrance's, Communications, Citizens and Tax Payers wishing to address <br />Council on any item posted on the agenda (Limited to five minutes) <br /> <br />Ted Powell - 1700 Roscoe - Mr. Powell addressed Council on agenda item 8. He <br />informed Council he is not in favor of this item. He also suggested they conduct a safety <br />study due to the position of the structures on Main Street. Lastly, he reported the Texas <br />Historical Society had approved the Sylvan Beach Pavilion as a historical building. <br /> <br />David Jestice - 10454 Rustic Gate Road - provided Council with a handout on a <br />prescription drug plan the City of Deer Park is providing to its citizens. He requested the <br />City of La Porte do the same thing for La Porte citizens. <br /> <br />7. The Public Hearing on this item was continued from the December 14,2009 meeting: <br /> <br />Council to consider approval or other action approving ordinances condemning <br />substandard buildings located at 704 So. Homes and 401 N. 6th Streets (Ord. 3164 and <br />3165) - D. Wilmore <br /> <br />Building official Debbie Wilmore presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Councils' questions. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Riqby to deny Ordinance 3165 and continue the <br />public hearinq on March 8, 2010 to consider approval of Ordinance 3164. Second by <br />Councilmember Moser. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Leonard, Engelken, Black, Moser, Rigby, Mosteit and Beasley <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Clausen <br /> <br />8. Council to consider approval or other action of a construction contract and change order <br />no. 1 for constructing the Gateway Project - J. Joems <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Councils' questions. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Black to approve a construction contract and chanqe <br />order no. 1 for constructinq the Gateway Proiect as presented by Mr. Joerns. Second by <br />Councilmember Enqelken. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Engelken, Black, Mosteit and Beasley <br />Nays: Leonard, Moser and Rigby <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Clausen <br />
