Minutes of Regular Meeting and Public Hearing of La Porte City Council on June 14, 2010 <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Moser to send this item back to the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission to remove non-conforming section in the ordinance. Second by <br />Councilmember Engelken. Consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing a member of City <br />Council to serve as Alternate Mayor-Pro-Tem for the period of June 15, 2010 through the <br />date that the newly elected Mayor takes the Oath of Office (Ord. 3257) - R. Bottoms <br />City Manager Ron Bottoms presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read Ordinance 3257- AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS ALTERNATE MAYOR <br />PRO-TEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE PERIOD JUNE 15, 2010, THROUGH <br />THE DATE THE NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR TAKES THE OATH OF OFFICE, FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Black to approve Ordinance 3257 as presented bX <br />Mr. Bottoms and appoint Louis Rigbv as the Alternate Mayor Pro Tem Second by <br />Councilmember Moser. Consider approval or other action regarding renewal of the current contract with Republic <br />Services for commercial solid waste collection, or direct staff to begin preparation to bid <br />the contract, with new service to begin on November 1, 2010 - S. Gillett <br />Public Works Director Steve Gillett presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Rigbv to approve as renewal of the current contract <br />with Republic Services for commercial solid waste collection to begin on November 1 <br />2010 presented by Mr. Gillett. Second by Councilmember Clausen Motion carried <br />5 <br />Ayes: Engelken, Rigby, Black, Clausen, Mosteit and Mayor Pro-Tem Leonard <br />Nays: Zemanek and Moser <br />
