Minutes of Regular Meeting, Public Hearing and Workshop Meeting of La Porte City Council on July 26, 2010 <br />Public Comments: There were not any public comments. <br />Recommendation of Staff -Staff recommended continuance of Ordinance 93-1887 as <br />written. <br />Mayor Pro-Tem Leonard closed the Public Hearing and reconvened Regular Meeting at <br />6:57 p.m. <br />8. Consider approval or other action regarding the continuation of Ordinance 93-1887, as <br />codified in Chapter 42 of the La Porte Code of Ordinances, regarding Curfew for Juveniles <br />- K. Adcox <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Clausen to approve the continuation of Ordinance <br />93-1887, as codified in Chapter 42 of the La Porte Code of Ordinances regarding Curfew <br />for Juveniles as presented by Mr. Adcox. Second by Councilmember Engelken. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Ayes: Engelken, Rigby, Moser, Clausen, Zemanek, Mosteit and Mayor Pro-Tem Leonard <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Black <br />Councilmember Engelken recused himself from items 9, 10, and 11. <br />9. Consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance suspending CenterPoint <br />Energy's utility rate increase for ninety (90) days (Ord. 3266) - J. Joerns <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns provided summary and recommendation and <br />answered Councils' questions. <br />Steve Greenley of CenterPoint Energy answered council's questions. <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read Ordinance 3266, AN ORDINANCE RELATING <br />TO THE RETAIL ELECTRIC RATES OF CENTERPOINT ENERGY HOUSTON <br />ELECTRIC, LLC WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; SUSPENDING FOR NINETY <br />DAYS THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF NEW RATES; CONTAINING FINDINGS AND OTHER <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE FOREGOING SUBJECT; PROVIDING FOR <br />SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Moser to approve Ordinance 3266 as presented by <br />Mr. Joerns. Second by Councilmember Zemanek. Motion carried. <br />Ayes: Rigby, Moser, Clausen, Zemanek, Mosteit and Mayor Pro-Tem Leonard <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Engelken <br />Absent: Black <br />
