Minutes of Regular Meeting and Budget and Budget Workshop Meeting of the La Porte City Council held on August 9, 10 & 11, 2010 Page 7 Fire Station 1 — The design cost will be $250,000. $4,500,000 dollars will be placed in the CIP Projects for this project. The funds will be marked for the Fire Station but in case of an emergency could be used for something else. Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr provided Council with an overview and map of the mowing plan. City Manager Ron Bottoms informed Council there will be $40,000.00 placed in the budget for the Northside Housing Plan. Planning Director Tim Tietjens provided an overview and a handout. Council directed staff to move forward. Bulkhead at Golf Course — $360,000 will be placed in the budget to do 5,000 linear feet to be split between the City and the Development Corporation Board. Baseball Association Request — council was advised the safety and maintenance issues at Pecan Park were being addressed. The wish list items will need to be put off until the future. Upgrades in City Secretary's Office — City Manager Ron Bottoms advised he would look at those positions along with other positions in the City. He informed Council this process is normally done in the spring of the year with a market analysis and internal analysis done at that time. Lump Sum Raises — Council directed staff not to proceed with lump sum raises. They were directed to continue the merit plan as it exists. Engineer Management Position in Planning — Planning Director Tim Tietjens provided Council with an overview of why he needs this position. Council advised staff they could move forward with this position as a Sr. Engineer who will also produce engineering work. . City Attorney's insurance discussion — City Manager Ron Bottoms informed Council this would be placed on the August 23rd Council Meeting to be discussed in Executive Session. 7. Administrative Reports City Manager Ron Bottoms provided Administrative Reports for the following: August 9 -13, 2010 — City Council Meeting/Budget Workshop Meetings Early Voting for Special Called Elections — August 11, 2010 — August 24, 2010 — 8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. extended hours for Early Voting will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010 — 7:00 a.m. — 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 24, 2010 — 7:00 a.m. — 7:00 p.m. Early Voting on Saturday, August 21, 2010 — 8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
