[Teresa Evans, Director of Planning and Development] <br />The Mayor ooened the Public hearing at 6A9 P.m. No comments were offered. The Mayor closed the public hearing <br />at 6A9 P.m. No motion was made and the item was not considered. <br />7. STATUTORY AGENDA <br />a. Presentation and discussion of presentation and possible action to provide staff with direction regarding <br />potential improvements at Pecan Park. [Ray Mayo, Director of Public Works] <br />Councilperson Garza moved to amend by adding as a preferred option after Pecan trees: the amendment was <br />seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Martin: the motion was adopted. 8-0. <br />The main motion. as amended, was adopted, 8-0. <br />8. REPORTS <br />a. Receive report on the La Porte Development Corporation Board meeting. [Councilperson Chuck Engelken] <br />Councilperson Engelken relayed that the Board had approved two enhancement grant reimbursements, two other <br />enhancement grant applications, made an initial payment to the Campise project on Main Street, and approved the <br />proposed budget for FY21-22. <br />9. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />• Drainage and Flooding Committee meeting, July 12 <br />• City Council meeting, July 12 <br />• Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, July 15 <br />• Zoning Board of Adjustments meeting, July 22 <br />• City Council meeting, July 26 <br />Mr. Alexander said there were no reports. <br />10, COUNCIL COMMENTS Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda; Items of community <br />interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information or existing policy from the Mayor, <br />Councilmembers, and City staff, for which no formal action will be discussed or taken. <br />Councilpersons thanked citizens for their comments, encouraged attendance at the Independence Day Parade, and <br />wished everyone a safe and happy holiday; thanked staff for providing the agenda to the Bay Area Observer; thanked <br />the Parks Department for a successful March to the Park last week; commended Solid Waste for garbage pick-up in all <br />weather; asked that mutual aid calls for EMS be reviewed; expressed appreciation to staff for the successful proposal <br />for Pecan Park; asked that Barbara Norwine's comments be heeded; offered support for Mr. Powell's request to have <br />a park named for Tommy Moser; recalled the fun events and increased attendance recently for Juneteenth; requested <br />that the City be held to the same Code Enforcement standards as La Porte residents; members of the public were <br />invited to set visits with Councilpersons, publicly or privately; offered apology for not attending and expressed <br />appreciation for the ability to attend remotely; reminded all that Councilpemons have had the opportunity to attend <br />remotely during COVID; and recounted the reasons the Council has voted to provide HOT funding for the Houston <br />Yacht Club apdAe many projects and improvements that have been completed on the north side of the community. <br />*fl <br />+ � Page 3 0( 3 <br />!; June 28, 2021, Council Meeting Minutes <br />
