Discuss Assets, Issues, Improvements and Priorities Noted During <br />the October 27, 1998, Community Forum. <br />Bret Keast and Jenni Suvari, with Wilbur Smith Associates, attended the <br />meeting. Mr. Keast complimented the Committee and staff on the <br />success of the Community Forum. Participants were focused and the <br />event was well organized. There was a good display of public <br />participation with two hundred eighteen (218) people signing in. <br />Mr. Keast distributed copies of the information that was compiled from <br />citizen input received at the community forum. The Committee reviewed <br />and discussed the list and agreed to begin by separating the issues <br />relating to "Community Facilities and Services/Utilities" into four <br />subcategories titled 1) Utilities, 2) Public Buildings, 3) Municipal Services, <br />& 4) Infrastructure. <br />Utilities <br />Drainage/Flood Control` <br />Bad water <br />Flooding & sewer back-up <br />Lighting on North Side and Sylvan Beach <br />Underground utilities <br />Potable water supply <br />Sewer capacity <br />Underground drainage <br />Water pressure <br />Water rates <br />Street lighting <br />Sufficient right-of-way, drainage <br />Reduce inflow and infiltration <br />Public Buildinas <br />New police station <br />Library — size and location <br />Emergency Operation Center <br />Consolidation of facilities for poor and needy (bigger neighborhood center) <br />Convention center/community center <br />Parks and Recreation Youth Facility (vacant Kroger) <br />Outdoor theater <br />Hospital with critical care heli-port <br />Municipal Services <br />Recycling — curbside <br />Patrolling Sylvan Beach <br />
