MINUTES OF THE DRAINAGE AND FLOODING COMMITTEE March 10, 2008 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Mosteit at 5:02 p.m. Committee Members Present: Council Members: Chairman Mike Mosteit, Vice Chairman Mike Clausen and Committee Members Chuck Engelken, and Tommy Moser Committee Members Absent: Howard Ebow Members of City Employees Present: Assistant City Secretary Sharon Harris, City Manager Ron Bottoms, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr, City Engineer Rodney Slaton, Judge Denise Mitrano, and Assistant Fire Chief Donald Ladd. Others present: Gary Struzick of Klotz and Associates, John Boerstler of Congressman Nick Lampson's Office, Adam Yanelli, John Saavedra, John Randolph, Doug Bryant, Richard Smith, Margaret Compton, Charles Nute, John (Jack) E. Peters, Chae Catlin, Mike Prasek, Cheryl Westermoreland, Patricia Clark, Phillip Hoot, Kirby and Betty Cardenas, Richard and Ellen Winn, Don Killen, Charles Rothmund, David Janda, Joe Newton, Champ and Dennis Dunham, Reverend Michael Bingham and other citizens. 2. Consider approval of Minutes of Drainage and Flooding Committee held February 18, 2008. Motion was made by Vice Chairman Clausen to approve the minutes as presented. A second by Committee Member Moser. The motion carried. Ayes: Tommy Moser, Mike Mosteit, and Mike Clausen Nays: None Abstain: Chuck Engelken Absent: Howard Ebow 3. Petitions, Remonstrance's, communications, and citizens and taxpayers wishing to address the Flooding and Drainage Committee. Margaret Compton - 10901 Dogwood Dr. La Porte TX. 77571 - did not wish to speak, but distributed a handout with a letter and photos of flooding in her Fairmont Park East Subdivision. Patricia Clark - 3817 Ashwood Circle, La Porte, TX. 77571 - addressed the committee regarding the hotel development at Fairmont Parkway and Driftwood and resolving drainage and flooding concerns in her Fairmont Park East Subdivision.
