MINUTES OF THE DRAINAGE AND FLOODING COMMITTEE JUNE 3, 2009 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Mosteit at 5:05 p.m. Committee Members Present: Chairman Mike Mosteit, Vice Chairman Mike Clausen, Chuck Enge/ken and Tommy Moser. Committee Members Absent: Howard Ebow no longer on City Council. Other Council members Present: None Members of City Employees Present: City Secretary Martha Gillett, City Manager Ron Bottoms, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, GIS Technician Isaac Rodriguez, Public Works Director Steve Gillett, and City Engineer Rodney Slaton. Others present: Margaret Compton, and Melissa Rothmund, Roxann Mouton, Charles Nute, Kim Still, Flo Ann Counts, Billie Bowles, Jim Counts, Cheryl Westmoreland, Richard and Ellen Winn, Bryan Moore, Adam Yanelli of Bayshore Sun, Gary Struzick and Brian Addicks of Klotz Associates. 2. Consider approval of Minutes of Drainage and Flooding Committee Meeting held on May 18, 2009. Motion was made by Committee member Engelken to approve the minutes as presented. A second by Committee Member Clausen. The motion carried. Ayes: Tommy Moser, Mike Mosteit, Mike Clausen and Chuck Engelken. Nays: None Abstain: None Absent: None 3. Petitions, Remonstrance's, communications, and citizens and taxpayers wishing to address the Drainage and Flooding Committee. Roxanne Mouton - Valleybrook and Spencer Highway - Ms. Mouton noted she had questions for the committee. She wanted to know what projects were planned for the area and showed pictures to the drainage committee of flooding concerns. Jim Counts - Garden Club on Kansas Street - Mr. Counts informed the committee he is representing the Garden Club. He informed them of the flooding concerns with the building and the high costs of repairs. Requested the area be culvert area be cleaned up. He also informed the committee he had already spoke with City Engineer Rodney Slaten. He showed the committee some pictures. Margaret Compton - 10901 Dogwood - Ms. Compton requested the committee consider the highest level or repairs and upgrades to resolve the drainage issues in Fairmont Park East. Larry Dunbar - 6342 Dobridge Drive, Sugar/and, Texas - informed the committee he was a Civil Engineer that had been hired by the Fairmont Park Homeowner's Association. He noted he had questions about some of the numbers and costs in the Drainage Study Report. He will be providing the committee with a written report.
