3.3 Alternative 2B Remove Existing Storm Sewer Trunk Line and Replace with 10-
year Capacity Trunk Line

Alternative 2B is similar to Alternative 2A but is designed to provide a lO-year event
level of protection. The trunk line is increased to 9'x 6' RCB's downstream to provide a
lO-year capacity.

The construction estimate for Alternative 2B is approximately $1.90 million with a 10%
contingency and with engineering and surveying added in the estimate totals $2.13
million.

3.4 Alternative 3 Add Parallel Storm Trunk Line to Existing Storm Sewer with
Pavement Repair for One Travel Lane to Spruce Dr. North

Alternative 3 is the addition of a parallel storm sewer trunk line under the northbound
travel lane of Fleetwood Drive between Mesquite and North Spruce. This option is
similar to Alternative 1 with only about 2,200 LF of pipe placed under northbound
Fleetwood Drive. To keep the HGL below the pavement in this alternative, larger pipe
sizes have to be used closer to the outfall.

This configuration has a design capacity of 225.0 Ccfs) for a 5-year event at the outfall
and keeps the HGL below Fleetwood Drive.

The associated construction estimate is approximately $1.21 million including 10% for
contingencies. Add 12% for engineering and surveying and the total estimate reaches
$1.35 million. The costs are similar the Alternative 2A because larger size pipe is used
downstream for a greater length to increase capacity and keep the HGL below grade.
This increases in the larger pipe quantities more than offsets savings in pavement repair.

3-3

Klotz Associates Project No. 0127.009.000
May 2009

Fairmont Park East & Brookglen Drainage Study
City of La Porte
