Mr. Ron Bottoms
August 14, 2009

Side Streets
Each of the alternatives discussed above and those outlined in the original May 2009
study evaluate alternatives that will increase the conveyance out of the Fairmont Park
East subdivision and toward the receiving ditch. But because the side streets are
significantly lower than the elevations of Fleetwood Drive there will still be ponding in
the side streets with each alternative discussed above. The ponding will vary depending
on the selected alternative. With lowering Fleetwood Drive there will be ponding and
conveyance along Fleetwood more that before. The goal is to have Fleetwood serve as a
storage area and a storm sewer conveyance area to send flow~out to the receiving ditch
and to reduce the ponding within the subdivision and to reduce)he flooding of structures.
It is important to note that no alternative eliminates ,~(o('tJ:le ponding within the
subdivision but all of the alternatives will reduce the, pondihg'and also reduce the
structural flooding.

We recommend that Alternative 5 be the proi.~cts~lected bv the City for improvements in
the Fairmont Park East subdivision as it provides' fgr a ? . year storm sewer system and
better sheet flow from the upper portions of the subdiyi~J()n.

We are available to discuss this report~jJh you at your convenience. Summary data has
been included in the exhibits and appendices.

Sincerely,

Brian Addicks, P.R

bda

Attachments

CC: Mr. Ron Bottoms, City of La Porte
1\1r' Steve Gillett, City of La Porte
Mr,John JQerns, City of La Porte
Mr. Rodney Slaton, City of La Porte
