<br />e <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Page 499 <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />finding that a petition calling for such consolidation has been filed with <br />the City Secretary; providing for the use of voting machines; appointing <br />election official~; providing for method and dates of absentee voting; <br />providing for return and canvass of votes of said election; providing for <br />notice; finding compliance with the open meetings law; providing a sav- <br />ings clause; and providing an effective date hereof. Motion was made by <br />Alderman Carr, second by Alderman Kuehl to adopt ordinance #185, motion <br />carried 5-for and .O-against. <br />Gardner-for Carr-for Kuehl-for Womack-for Sutherland-for <br /> <br />Notice was read by the Mayor of a hearing being held in Austin, Texas by <br />the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on the protest filed by the City <br />of Lomax in the cause of ABC and E Corporation. Motion was made by <br />Alderman Kuehl that the City Attorney be authorized to go to the hearing <br />in the City's behalf and the Police Chief should accompany' him to appear <br />as a witness, motion was second by Alderman Sutherland, motion carried <br />5-for and O-against. <br />Gardner-for Carr-for Kuehl-for Womack-for Sutherland-for <br /> <br />Motion was made by Alderman WomacK, second by Alderman Kuehl to close <br />city hall December 24, 1979 and December 31, 1979, motion carried 5- <br />for and O-against. <br /> <br />It was with Council agreement that the December Workshop meeting of the <br />Council was canceled. <br /> <br />L <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Mae Farmer appeared before Council to request a water line be run on <br />West Plainbrook. Motion was made by Alderman Carr, second by Alderman <br />Kuehl, to have the city maintenance crew run a 2" water line some 300' <br />on West Plainbrook to the Farmer property line if Farmer will pay for <br />the 2" PVC pipe, motion carried 4-for and l-against <br />Gardner-for Carr-for Kuehl-for Womack-against Sutherland-for <br /> <br />Alderman Womack ask that water and sewer service to the west end of North <br />H Street be considered at the next regularly scheduled work shop. <br /> <br />The contract with Carpenter's Ambulance Service was considered, there was <br />some discussion concerning the increase in monthly charge from $450 per <br />month to $800 per. month. Motion was made by Alderman Carr, second by <br />Alderman Kuehl to pay Carpenter's Ambulance Service $800 per month for <br />the next five (5) months as per his request or until such time as budgeted <br />funds are spent in that account.
