• <br />LJ <br />• <br />Called Meeting - 8/5/74 - Continued <br />study was being made in the immediate area where <br />Mr. Barker's property is, and the ideas have not been <br />presented to the Commission, but proposed a 1500 foot <br />border or the city limit line on the west, all the way <br />down to Spencer Highway; proposed to go on the east <br />side to 16th Street. He further stated that although <br />this had no bearing on the property in question, he <br />wanted to give an idea of the extent of the proposed <br />change going from 225 all the way down to Spencer on <br />the west side. On the east side we propose to go <br />from 225 all the way down to Fairmont Parkway, which is <br />approximately 1500 feet, or to the 16th Street line. <br />This would all be made Commercial property which forms <br />a border against the railroad and allows them to build <br />commercial in there and propose to add Light Industry <br />with Special Permit Only for any application for any <br />plant that is built in this district will come back <br />before it can be built will have to apply for a special <br />permit to build anything in the manufacturing area <br />and we still have the control. First it comes before <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission; next it goes to <br />the building inspector; and then it comes back to the <br />Commission for approval for any permit in that district. <br />Mr. Roberson stated that he wanted to inform everyone <br />what was being worked on and what they were going to <br />ask the Commission to work with them on. <br />Mayor Thomas asked if there was anyone else desiring <br />to speak in favor of the rezoning? There being none, <br />declared the public hearings closed. <br />The meeting of the City Commission was recessed while <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission met on the requests <br />for rezoning. <br />Mayor Thomas called the meeting to order and read <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendation <br />to approve the rezoning of Lots 1 through 16, Block <br />1146 from Residential to Commercial and 22.67 acres, <br />Tract 20, Abstract 5, E. Brinson Survey from Residential <br />to Commercial. <br />4 <br />Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner <br />Price to approve the rezoning of Lots 1 through 16, Block <br />1146, from Residential to Commercial. Motion carried by <br />the following vote: <br />• <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, <br />Price and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />
