The meeting was called to order by Chairman Doug Latimer <br />at 7:00 PM. <br />Members of the Commission Present: Chairman Doug Latimer, <br />Mem ers Kar Jo nston, Janet Graves, Charlie Doug Boyle, <br />Lola Phillips <br />Members of the Commission Absent: Bruce Hammack and <br />Bobby Blackwell <br />City Staff Present: Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong., <br />Director of Community Development John Joerns, and Assistant <br />City Secretary Laura Hall <br />Others Present: Myrl Peterson and R. D. Fletcher representing <br />Fletcher and Associates; Carlos Smith and Fred Beck representing <br />Carlos Smith Engineering; Carrington Weems, James N. Wallace, <br />Bill Fleener, Bob Lee, James N. Alexander, Decker McKim, <br />Fred Pearson, CPA, and 6 interested citizens <br />2.A. Chairman Latimer called the public hearing to order to <br />consider the request of F. Carrington Weems to rezone a <br />21.8288 acre tract of land just south of Baypoint Townhomes <br />from temporary R-1 classification to "C" Commercial to allow <br />the development of 4-plex apartments. <br />1. Those wishing to speak in favor of the rezoning request: <br />Mr. R. D. Fletcher and Mr. Myrl Peterson spoke in favor <br />of the request stating that the property would be used <br />valuably to provide spacious and beautiful living facilities <br />for families who cannot presently afford the costs involved <br />in purchasing a home. Pictures were displayed showing <br />the complexes. <br />2. Those wishing to speak in opposition to the rezoning <br />request: <br />Chairman Latimer asked if anyone wished to speak in <br />opposition to the rezoning request.° No one spoke in <br />opposition of the request. , <br />'- Chairman Latimer asked if any member of the Commission had <br />questions of Mr. Fletcher or Mr. Peterson. There were no <br />other questions. <br />~! _ e <br />
