• <br />` Minutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte Planning & Zoning Commission <br />August 13, 1984, Page 2 <br />Motion was made by Charlie Dous Boyle to Qrant Mr. Weem's <br />re uest to rezone the 21.8288 acre tract of land 'ust soutt; <br />o Ba oint Townhomes from a tem orar R-1 classification <br />to C Commercial to allow the development of the -plex <br />apartments. Secon by Karl Johnston. The motion carried, <br />5 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstaining (because of the absence of <br />2 members). <br />Ayes: Latimer, Graves, Phillips, Johnston, Boyle <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Bruce Hammack, R. J. Blackwell <br />2.B. Chairman Latimer continued the public hearing to consider <br />the request of James N. Wallace to rezone Block 643, <br />Lots 1-32 from commercial to industrial allowing Browning- <br />Ferris Industries, Inc. to expand their facility. <br />1. Those wishing to speak in favor of the rezoning request: <br />Mr. James N. Wallace spoke in favor of the rezoning request <br />stating that the rezoning would allow expansion of the BFI <br />facility providing added work area and parking area. <br />Chairman Latimer asked if any member of the Commission <br />had questions of Mr. Wallace. No one had questions. <br />2. Those wishing to speak in opposition to the rezoning <br />request: <br />Chairman Latimer asked if anyone wished to speak in opposition <br />to the rezoning request. <br />Mr. Bill Fleener asked to speak, not in opposition to the <br />request, but in a manner that questions could be asked <br />about the usage of the property. Mr. Fleener asked <br />Mr. Wallace if the facility would provide ample parking for <br />employees and BFI vehicles. He also asked if any other <br />type operation would mar the environment would be allowed. <br />Mr. Wallace assured Mr. Fleener and the Commission that <br />this would not take place and that employees would be able <br />to use the parking lot also. <br />Chairman Latimer asked if anyone had other questions <br />concerning the matter. No one did. <br />Motion was made b Karl Johnston to rant Mr. Wallace's <br />request to rezone Block 3, Lots -32 rom commercia <br />to industrial. Second by Lola Phillips. The motion carried, <br />5 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstaining (because of the absence of 2 <br />•_ members). <br />Ayes: Latimer, Graves, Phillips, Johnston, Boyle <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Bruce Hammack, R.
