Minutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meetin• <br />La Porte Planning & Zoning Commission <br />August 13, 1984, Page 3 <br />Chairman Latimer then closed the public hearing at 7:22 P.M. <br />and stated the Planning and Zoning Commission would now <br />request a public hearing of City Council on these matters <br />and would make their recommendations in writing to the <br />City Council. <br />3. The Commission considered the request of Fred Pearson, Harper <br />& Pearson, CPA, to vacate Coronet Park Subdivision Section 1, <br />Lomax Area, and reverte the property back to acreage. <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong stated that the owner <br />of the property wished to have the plat vacated and cancelled <br />and reverted back to acreage for future parkland or other <br />development as the land had never been built on. Letters <br />from Assistant City Attorney Armstrong, Fred Pearson, CPA, <br />and a copy of the legal document for the vacation of the <br />plat for said subdivision, area attached for record as part <br />of these minutes. <br />Motion was made by Janet Graves to approve the request <br />of Fred Pearson, Harper & Pearson Company, CPA, to vacate <br />Coronet Park Subdivision Section 1, in Lomax area, and <br />reverte the ro ert ack to acrea e. Second y Charlie <br />Doug Boyle. T e motion Carrie 5 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstaining <br />(because of the absence of 2 members). <br />Ayes: Latimer, Boyle, Graves, Phillips, Johnston <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Bruce Hammack, R. J. Blackwell <br />4. The Commission considered the request of James B. Alexander <br />to rezone Lots 18 and 19, Block 1 of Spenwick Place, <br />Section I from residential to commercial. <br />Mr. Alexander stated that he would like to have the property <br />rezoned from residential to commercial to allow the develop- <br />ment of a rental business. He stated that surrounding <br />properties were already commercial and this would be developed <br />the same way and for the benefit of the property owners. <br />It was the recommendation of Chief Building Official <br />David Paulissen that if the rezoning was recommended to <br />Council that Planning and Zoning should require the <br />developer to apply for a building permit within 30 days. <br />Chairman Latimer stated that this item would be placed on <br />an agenda for public hearing on September 6, 1984. <br />n <br />~~ <br />e~' <br />
