That element of the adoption •process is behind us with the text forwarded to the City Council on September 5, 1985. Progress continues on the review and, adoption process of the Zoning Ordinance text. The text has been formally presented to Council and has subsequently had its required public hearing. .Input from the public hearing is being documented and reviewed by the city staff. Council will receive the report on the public input sometime in January. The next step in the process is the presentation and review of the Land Use and Zoning Maps with the public. In order to hit the ground running, once Council approves the text of the Ordinance after the first of the year, we will discuss at January's meeting the approach we will take in gathering public input for preparing a draft map and its recommendation to Council. A plan for the input and review of the Land Use and Zoning Maps would include several neighborhood meetings throughout La Porte. Areas have been chosen based on common social and neighborhood concerns of the citizens. Every effort will be made to insure that these meetings are kept informal. The final meeting will be the required public hearing on the maps at City Hall. Outlined below are the proposed neighborhood areas and alternate meeting location.
