O Box 1115 • <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMO <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS 77571 <br />TO: City of La Porte Planning & Zoning Commission <br />FROM: Andrew Wilson, Planning & Zoning Commission Chairman <br />DATE: 12/20/85 <br />SUBJECT: Land Use/Zoning Map Review Process <br />You should all be thanked for the hard work and effort on the text of <br />our new proposed Zoning Ordinance. That element of the adoption <br />•process is behind us with the text forwarded to the City Council on <br />September 5, 1985. Progress continues on the review and, adoption <br />process of the Zoning Ordinance text. The text has been formally <br />presented to Council and has subsequently had its required public <br />hearing. .Input from the public hearing is being documented and <br />reviewed by the city staff. Council will receive the report on the <br />public input sometime in January. <br />The next step in the process is the presentation and review of the <br />Land Use and Zoning Maps with the public. In order to hit the ground <br />running, once Council approves the text of the Ordinance after the <br />first of the year, we will discuss at January's meeting the approach <br />we will take in gathering public input for preparing a draft map and <br />its recommendation to Council. <br />A plan for the input and review of the Land Use and Zoning Maps would <br />include several neighborhood meetings throughout La Porte. Areas have <br />been chosen based on common social and neighborhood concerns of the <br />citizens. Every effort will be made to insure that these meetings are <br />kept informal. The final meeting will be the required public hearing <br />on the maps at City Hall. Outlined below are the proposed <br />neighborhood areas and alternate meeting location. <br />NEIGHBORHOOD AREA ALTERNATE MEETING LOCATIONS <br />----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Fairmont A.
