,` • • <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />i Planning & Zoning Commission <br />Minutes of March 18, 1993 <br />V. CALL PUBLIC HEARING TO ORDER TO CONSIDER SPECIAL CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT #SCU93-002. THIS SPECIAL CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT IS <br />REQUESTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THE ZION HILL BAPTIST <br />CHURCH TO CONSTRUCT A NEW SANCTUARY BUILDING IN AN R-1 LOW <br />DENSITY RESIDENTIAL ZONE. THE CHURCH PROPOSES TO CONSTRUCT <br />THIS BUILDING AT 430 NORTH 6TH STREET WHICH IS FURTHER <br />DESCRIBED AS LOTS 1-4; BLOCK 90, TOWN OF LA PORTE. <br />Chairman Waters opened the Public Hearing at 6:02 PM. <br />A. PROPONENTS <br />Charlie Perry, representing Zion Hill Baptist Church, addressed the <br />Commission. He stated he was aware that notices were mailed to <br />surrounding property owners informing them of the church's request <br />for a Special Conditional Use Permit and that no opposition had been <br />received regarding such. <br />• B. OPPONENTS <br />There were none. <br />Mr. Harrington noted that the request had been reviewed by staff and was found to <br />meet all necessary requirements and would recommend approval by the Commission <br />of the permit request. <br />VI. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING <br />Chairman Waters closed the Public Hearing at 6:05 PM. <br />VII. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING SCU93-002. <br />A motion was made by Eugene Edmonds to recommend City Council approval of <br />SCU93-002. The motion was seconded by Inge Browder. All were in favor and the <br />motion passed. <br /> <br />
