CALL TO ORDER. <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Waters at 6:05 PM. <br />II. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 17, 1999, REGULAR MEETING. <br />Motion by Dottie Kaminski to approve the minutes of June 17, 1999. <br />Second by. Michael Jetty. All were in favor and the motion passed. <br />III. OPEN PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br />A. CONSIDER ZONE CHANGE REQUEST #R99-001, REQUESTED <br />FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 629 NORTH 8T" STREET <br />DESCRIBED AS LOTS 17-32 OF BLOCK 335, AND LOTS 1-16 <br />OF BLOCK 334, JOHNSON HUNTER SURVEY, ABSTRACT NO. <br />35, LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. THE APPLICANT IS <br />SEEKING A ZONE CHANGE FROM GENERAL COMMERCIAL <br />(GC) TO BUSINESS INDUSTRIAL (BI). <br />Staffs report presented by Masood Malik. <br />Port Properties has made application for a change in zoning from <br />GC to BI for their property located at 629 N. a Street. The change <br />would result in one-half of Blk. 335 (Lots 17-32) being rezoned to <br />BI, while the other half block along SH 146 remains GC. Staff has <br />added Lots 1-16 of Blk. 334 to the request to provide for better land <br />use opportunities along Barbour's Cut Blvd. <br />Applicant intends to expand existing business, known as Port <br />Plaza, across the street (Barbour's Cut Blvd.) by developing truck <br />service, maintenance, and repair facilities. <br />
