OPPONENTS <br />District 5 Councilperson Charlie Young, of 214 Reynolds, <br />talked about corridor beautification efforts of neighboring <br />communities along SH 146. The area in question would be <br />a good place for La Porte to begin concentrating on its own <br />beautification plan. Rezoning this area is a bad idea. <br />IV. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br />Chairperson Waters closed the Public Hearings. <br />V. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL FOR ZONE <br />CHANGE REQUEST #R99-001. <br />Motion by, Melton Wolters to recommend City Council approval of Zone <br />Change Request #R99-001. Motion seconded by Hal Lawler. All were in <br />favor and the motion passed. <br />VI. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL FOR ZONE <br />CHANGE REQUEST #R99-002. <br />Motion by Melton Wolters to recommend City Council deny Zone Change <br />Request #R99-002. Second by Sandie Staniszewski. All were in favor <br />and the motion passed. <br />VII. STAFF REPORTS <br />Mr. Malik informed the Commission there would be a reception at City Hall <br />for the new Police Chief Richard Reff on Tuesday, July 20 at 5:30 PM. <br />Mr. Kneupper briefly updated the Commission on the progress of the <br />Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee <br />VIII. ADJOURN <br />Chairperson Waters declared the meeting adjourned at 6:30 PM. <br />
