~ a <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF MAY 30, 2002 <br />Members Present: Betty Waters, Hal Lawler, Ross Morris, Pamela Baldwin <br />Members Absent: Melton Wolters, Dottie Kaminski, Ralph Dorsett <br />City Staff Present: City Planner Gwen Goodwin, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, <br />Planning Secretary Peggy Lee <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Waters called the meeting to order at 6:04 PM. <br />II. OPEN PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.1501 <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, PERTAINING TO MID TO HIGH DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. THE CITY OF LA PORTS IS SEEKING THIS <br />AMENDMENT BASED ON RESOLUTION N0.02-20 ADOPTED BY THE CITY <br />COUNCIL <br />Chairperson Waters opened the public hearing at 6:04 PM. <br />1. PROPONENTS <br />None present. <br />2. OPPONENTS <br />None present. <br />City Planner Gwen Goodwin led the discussion. The Commission compared existing <br />ordinance provisions with the subcommittee's recommended revisions. During <br />discussions, the Commission noted the following Zoning Ordinance and Map changes <br />they would like to see regarding mid-high density residential development: <br />Location <br />Remove the General Commerrial ~'oning Districts as permissible locations for mid-density <br />and multi-family residential developments. <br />No additional duplexes, townhomes, quadraplexes, or multi-family units allowed along <br />South Broadway. <br />
