CONDUCT PUBLIC ' HEARING AND CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY <br />COUNCIL REGARDING REZONE REQUEST #R04-004 FOR #2 ACRES OF LAND <br />LOCATED IN THE 2100 BLOCK OF SOUTH BROADWAY, FURTHER DESCRIBED <br />AS LOTS 2 THRU 31 OF BLOCK 1254, W.P. HARRIS SURVEY, ABSTRACT NO. 30, <br />LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. - THE • APPLICANT, F. CARRINGTON <br />WEEMS, SEEKS' TO REZONE THE PROPERTY FROM LOW:DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL (R-1) TO NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL (NC) FOR <br />DEVELOPMENT OF OFFICE BUILDING. <br />Planning Coordinator, Masood 'Malik, presented staffs report. The applicant seeks a <br />rezone from Low -Density Residential (R-1) to .Neighborhood Commercial (NC) for the <br />purpose of developing an office building in the 700 block of S. Broadway, adjacent to the <br />Bay Forest Golf Course. <br />Staff feels the zone change will have a negative impact on surrounding properties and <br />recommended denial. <br />The City mailed notification to seven property owners. Two responses were received in <br />favor of the zone change. <br />Proponents: None <br />'Opponents = <br />Dean Snider, 202 Bay Colony Dr., is opposed to the zone change, citing it would be' a. <br />negative impact on adjacent housing and the golf course. <br />Motion by Nick Barrera to recommend to City Council, denial of Rezone Request #R04- <br />004 for t2 acres of land located in the 2100 block. of South Broadway. Second by Paul <br />Berner. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Barrera, Berner, Kaminski, Finch, Lawler, and Waters <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />S.
