CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING SPECIAL CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT REQUEST #SCU07-009. <br /> <br />Special Conditional Use Permit Request #SCU07-009 was withdrawn. There was no Commission <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />6. OPEN PUBLIC HEARING TO RECEIVE CITIZEN INPUT ON SPECIAL CONDITIONAL USE <br />PERMIT REQUEST #SCU07-010 FOR 6.4377 ACRES OF LAND, BLOCKS 33 THRU 37, BEACH <br />PARK SUBDIVISION, VOLUME 67, PAGE 149, H.C.D.R., JOHNSON HUNTER SURVEY, <br />ABSTRACT 35, LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AS REQEUSTED BY REV. GARY A. <br />RICKLES OF ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR PROPOSED ROSARY HALL TO BE <br />LOCATED AT 816 PARK DRIVE. RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS ARE CLASSIFIED AS A <br />CONDITIONAL USE IN R-1 ZONES PER CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston opened the public hearing at 6:13 p.m. <br /> <br />A. STAFF PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Masood Malik presented staffs report. The applicant, Rev. Gary Rickles, has requested a <br />special conditional use permit to construct a rosary hall at 816 Park Drive within St. Mary's <br />Catholic Church. <br /> <br />Staff recommended approval of the special conditional use permit, with conditions. <br /> <br />B. PROPONENTS <br /> <br />Stan Avalone, of 2622 De Four Trace, Seabrook, TX, addressed the Commission. A member of <br />St. Mary's Parrish and head of the Building Committee for this project, Mr. Avalone stated the <br />new building is being designed to match the existing building types, as well as roof and brick <br />color. The new building will accommodate additional children's classrooms and provide a larger <br />gathering area for adult education and adult meetings. <br /> <br />Janan Warren Pittman, of 5526 Benning Drive, an architect with Jackson Ryan Architects, <br />addressed the Commission. Ms. Benning described the plans for the building and answered <br />questions from the Commission. <br /> <br />C. OPPONENTS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />7. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston closed the public hearing at 6:23 p.m. <br /> <br />8. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING SPECIAL CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT REQUEST #SCU07-010. <br /> <br />Motion by Nick Barrera to recommend to City Council, approval of Special Conditional Use Permit <br />#SCU07 -010 with the following conditions: <br /> <br />1. This Special Conditional Use Permit is specifically limited for Rosary Hall/multi-purpose center <br />within the church property. <br />
