<br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />Minutes of January 17, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />Masood Malik presented staff's report. PPG - LaPorte Plant is located along South 16th Street <br />and W. Fairmont Parkway. The applicant has requested a replat of 32.1849 acres of land. <br /> <br />Public notices were mailed to 12 property owners located within 200' of the subject property. <br />The City did not receive any responses from the mail-out. <br /> <br />Staff recommended approval of the replat. <br /> <br />B. PROPONENTS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />C. OPPONENTS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />7. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston closed the public hearing at 6:31 p.m. <br /> <br />8. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE REPLA T FOR PPG-LA PORTE PLANT LOCATED ALONG <br />SOUTH 16TH STREET AND FAIRMONT PARKWAY. <br /> <br />Motion by Nick Barrera to approve the Replat for PPG, La Porte Plant, located along South 16th <br />Street and Fairmont Parkway. Second by Paul Berner. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: <br />Abstain: <br /> <br />Muston, Finch, Barrera, Berner, Meharg, Lawler and Bird <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />9. OPEN WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS REZONING OF TRACTS ALONG FAIRMONT PARKWAY. <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston opened the workshop at 6:33 p.m. <br /> <br />At the request of the Chairperson, Staff prepared a workshop item to discuss the possibility of <br />rezoning tracts which abut residential neighborhoods along Fairmont Parkway from General <br />Commercial (GC) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC). <br /> <br />Mr. Malik reiterated several rezoning benefits that were listed in staff's report: <br /> <br />· Attract commercial establishments compatible with residential uses <br />· Create neighborhood friendly atmosphere <br />· Ensure that commercial development is attractive, highly utilized, and without negative <br />influence on adjacent residential uses <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the pros and cons of allowable uses in GC and NC zones. <br /> <br />10. CLOSE WORKSHOP <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston closed the workshop at 7:19 p.m. <br /> <br />11. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br /> <br />Mr. Malik reported the following: <br /> <br />· The Lakes @ Fairmont Greens, Section 1 infrastructure has been completed and the plat will <br />soon be released for recordation. <br />
