With a required permit, Staff would inspect the fence to confirm it has been UL <br />approved and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. <br /> <br />B. PROPONENTS <br /> <br />Maggie Anderson, of 909 Garden Walk, favors changes to the Ordinance. Most people <br />use this type of fencing to stop their animal from digging out of the yard or to stop animals <br />from digging in their garden. <br /> <br />Lori Druckenbrodt, of 11315 N. H Street, is in favor of the changes to the Ordinance. She <br />informed the Commission the city asked her to remove her fence to be in compliance with <br />the code. She is concerned for the safety of her dogs. Her dogs dig out from the existing <br />fence she uses the electric fence to stop them from digging. <br /> <br />C. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING A PROPOSED <br />AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 106 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING SECTION <br />106-799, "CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRIC FENCES PROHIBITED", BY <br />ALLOWING ELECTRIC FENCES ON THE PREMISES OF SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLINGS <br />LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF LA PORTE, AND AMENDING APPENDIX B "FINES" <br />TO ESTABLISH FINE AMOUNT OF $2000.00. <br /> <br />Motion by Nick Barrera to recommend to City Council, an amendment to allow electric fences on <br />the premises of single-family dwellings with a permit from the Inspections Division and to include <br />signage on the property to alert someone that there is an electric fence on the property. <br /> <br />Second by Kirby Linscomb.
