Discuss assignment of definition for fill dirt material.
Planning Director Tim Tietjens provided Commissioners a copy of the City's Fill Dirt Application
packet, which included a sheet titled Exhibit A to Ordinance 1444-A. Since fill dirt is not
currently defined by ordinance, Mr. Tietjens suggested the Commission consider creating a
definition for fill dirt that could be added as an additional note to Exhibit A to Ordinance 1444-A.
The following definition for fill dirt was provided by Staff as a basis to begin discussion:
Fill dirt is defined herein as inert soil material derived from the earth which is used to fill in a
depression in the ground or elevate property, artificially changing the grade or elevation of real
property. It is natural subsoil or topsoil of small granular size material that may also contain
sand and clay, but is specifically devoid of contaminants or man-made materials, as well as
materials that are used otherwise to form an improved surface for vehicular traffic (i.e. concrete,
rebar, asphalt crushed aggregate, etc.)
