MINUTES OF LA PORTE AD HOC ASSOCIATION - MARCH 29, 1990 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The La Porte Sports Association held their meeting on Thursday, <br /> March 29, 1990, at the Public Works Building. Those in <br /> attendance were Bert Clark, Tim O'Connor, David Hyde, Becky Smith <br /> - City of La Porte, Lee Allen - La Porte Soccer - George Van Dyke <br /> - La Porte Oilers, Billy Hayes - La Porte Boys Baseball, Trumon <br /> Finchum - La Porte Girls Softball, Sylvia Simms - La Porte Girls <br /> Softball, Pat Bell - La Porte Girls Softball, Becky Smith - La <br /> Porte Girls Softball, Debbie Clark - La Porte Raiders Softball, <br /> Ronnie Bass - La Porte Boys Baseball, Cecile Paschal - Rodeo <br /> Association (Arena), Rex Carr - Rodeo Association (Arena). <br /> President Lee Allen called meeting to order at 7:40 A.M. <br /> REVIEW OF ASSOCIATION BYLAWS <br /> Sylvia Simms made a motion to change Article II, Section B to <br /> read: The membership shall consist of one (1) voting <br /> representative of each Youth Sports Organization. The Athietic <br /> Coordinator for the City of La Porte shall be an ex- officio <br /> member. George Van Dyke seconded this motion. Lee Allen <br /> informed Sylvia that per Article IV, she needs to provide each <br /> member with a fourteen (14) day written notice of the proposed <br /> change prior to the next meeting. Lee Alien recommended that <br /> each organization be notified before the next meeting to access <br /> the interest in the Association and who is interested in being <br /> represented. <br /> CONSIDERATION OF PREVIOUS BUSINESS <br /> President Lee Alien asked group for any old business. None was <br /> presented. <br /> DISCUSSIONS <br /> Tim O'Connor talked about the need for better communications <br /> between the organizations and the Parks and Recreation <br /> Department. He asked that each organization give the Parks and <br /> Recreation Department first chance at solving problems before <br /> approaching City Hall. He used the example of changing the Pinto <br /> field from grass to dirt after the field had been irrigated for <br /> grass, therefore using material and labor that was not needed. <br /> Billy Haynes responded with how the city has done a fine job on <br /> the fields and the irrigation designed for grass will still be <br /> great for the dirt field. The Pinto league will maintain the <br /> dirt infield. Pat Bell would like to have a form or whatever is <br /> needed to get the Girls softball complex done and ready on time. <br /> Sylvia Simms read her letter to the Association requesting basic <br />
