MINUTES PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTE WRECKER COMMITTEE <br />OCTOBER 18, 1994 <br />Wrecker Committee Members Present: Planning Director Chuck <br />Harrington, Police Lieutenant Aaron Corrales, City Secretary Sue <br />Lenes and Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong <br />Others Present: Jan Bosone, Bosone Body Shop, Keith Mainor, La <br />Porte Towing and Bob Phillips, DBA Phillips Towing & Recovery <br />representing Les Marks Chevrolet <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson of the Wrecker <br />Committee Chuck Harrington at 2:03 P.M. <br />2. Chairperson Chuck Harrington opened Public Hearing A - Request <br />of Jan Bosone, DBA Bosone Body Shop, for an auto wrecker <br />emergency permit. Mr. Harrington reviewed the request. He <br />asked Mrs. Bosone if she would like to speak regarding her <br />request. Mrs. Bosone brought to the attention of the <br />committee the background information regarding her company and <br />the reasons for her request. The committee held a question <br />and answer session with Mrs. Bosone regarding her request. <br />Mr. Harrington asked for public input. Mr. Mainor and Mr. <br />Phillips asked several question of the wrecker committee. Mr. <br />Mainor brought to the committee's attention facts regarding <br />the amount of calls within the past year. He reported the <br />number of calls for emergency wrecker service have decreased <br />in the past couple of years. Mr. Harrington closed public <br />hearing A at 2:22 P.M. <br />3. Chuck Harrington opened Public Hearing B - Request of Keith <br />Mainor, DBA La Porte Towing and Recovery, for an auto wrecker <br />emergency permit. Mr. Harrington asked Mr. Mainor if he would <br />like to speak regarding his request. Mr. Mainor brought to <br />the committee's attention the background information regarding <br />his request. Mr. Mainor explained he is requesting <br />consideration for a future permit in the event Joe Camp Ford <br />does not renew his present permit in December of this year. <br />Mr. Harrington explained, "We would be unable to act on a <br />future permit as this application is a request for an <br />additional permit to be added to the seven presently held. If <br />Mr. Camp does not reapply for a permit both companies applying <br />today have the option to submit an application for a permit to <br />fill the vacancy. There is no assurance that the committee <br />will find a need for the same number of permits as La Porte <br />has issued to date. It will become a wrecker committee <br />decision at that time to review a need for the same number of <br />permits." Mr. Harrington asked Mr. Manior if he would like to <br />continue with this hearing for a new permit or would he like <br />to withdraw his request. Mr. Manior withdrew his request for <br />a permit. Mr. Harrington asked for public input. There were <br />
