Mr. Harrington asked for a motion from the committee to either <br />approve or deny the request of Mrs. Bosone. <br />Motion was made by Lt. Aaron Corrales to deny the request for <br />an auto wrecker emergency permit. Second by Sue Lenes. <br />Mr. Harrington stated, "Over the years we have been operating <br />close to 1,300 to 1,400 accidents with the seven permits we <br />presently have issued. At this point in time we are down <br />almost 1/3 of that number and I do not see the necessity of <br />adding an eighth permit. I concur with the motion." <br />All were in favor of the motion to deny the request. Mr. <br />Harrington explained to Mrs. Bosone she may reapply for a <br />permit in January in the event one of the seven now holding a <br />permits does not renew by December 31, 1994. <br />5. Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong reported information <br />regarding the deregulation of trucking which has been proposed <br />by the Clinton administration. This will take affect January <br />1, 1995. He stated, "This will affect the way we do business <br />in the City of La Porte. We will be looking at revising the <br />present ordinance." <br />John Armstrong asked if there could be a consideration to have <br />a member of the wrecker association appointed to this wrecker <br />committee? <br />Mr. Harrington asked Mr. Manior and Mr. Phillips if the <br />Wrecker Association still existed? Mr. Manior reported there <br />are only four companies who hold permits at this time. Mr. <br />Manior indicated there is no association at this time but they <br />are looking at the possibility of having a representative in <br />the near future. <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong recommended an <br />ordinance change to eliminate the need for a fourth member on <br />the wrecker committee. <br />6.
