<br />Wrecker Committee <br />Minutes of August 25,2009 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />· Property sale transaction should be final within 2-3 weeks. <br />· DeWalt Towing has the only heavy duty auto wrecker permit in La Porte; <br />approval of Apple Towing's request would fill the void after DeWalt Towing is no <br />longer in business. <br />· Mr. DeWalt has begun moving out his inventory. <br />· Current facility is large enough for the proposed operation. <br />· Entire facility will be totally renovated. <br />· New factory painted sheet metal privacy fencing will be installed along the <br />perimeter of the property. <br />· Fencing/facility will be painted white with green trim (company colors). <br />· Overgrown shrubs will be removed. <br />· Phase I environmental has been completed and there are no issues; a copy of <br />this report will be provided to the City. <br />· Electric company has been contacted to straighten up poles and lines. <br />· Architectural plans are being prepared. <br />· Property will be re-surveyed. <br />· Old structure at the front of the property is being torn down. <br />· Applicant will work with City staff to address pre-existing non-conforming site <br />issues. <br />· Security lighting and cameras will be installed. <br />· Electric sliding gate will be installed. <br />· New asphalt parking spaces will be installed. <br />· Facility will be manned 24 hours a day. <br />· RBEX currently operates three government seized asset storage facilities for FBI, <br />DEA & US Marshals; a secure facility is required. <br />· Mr. Scully will provide the City a new letter that specifies an ending date of <br />December 31,2009, for Apple Towing to utilize DeWalt Towing's storage yard. <br />· Company is capable of handling pick-ups/tows in all scenarios and is contracted <br />with several crane companies. <br /> <br />Todd Johnston, with Apple Towing, participated in the discussion. <br /> <br />D. Close public hearing. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed. <br /> <br />5. Consider action to grant or deny an emergency heavy duty auto wrecker permit to RBEX, Inc. <br />dba Apple Towing Co., under Section 78-297 of the La Porte Code of Ordinances. <br /> <br />Motion by Tim Tietjens to grant an emergency heavy duty auto wrecker permit to RBEX, Inc. dba <br />Apple Towing Co. conditioned upon the following: <br /> <br />· Applicant shall submit by Tuesday, September 1, 2009, an amended vehicle <br />storage permit letter that allows Apple Towing to utilize DeWalt Towing's <br />
