CALL TO ORDER. <br />Meeting called to order by. Chairperson Grant at 7:00 PM. <br />II. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 24, 2000 MEETING. <br />Minutes approved as presented. <br />III. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE TO CHARLES SCHOPPE, ALTERNATE 1. <br />. POSITION. <br />John Armstrong administered the Oath of Office to Charles Schoppe. <br />IV. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE TO GEORGE MALTSBERGER, <br />ALTERNATE 2 POSITION. <br />George Maltsberger was not present for the meeting. <br />V. CONSIDER APPEAL OF THE BUILDING OFFICIAL'S DECISION #A00-002 <br />WHICH SEEKS TO ALLOW THE USE OF A SHIPPING CONTAINER AS AN <br />ACCESSORY BUILDING IN A RESIDENTIAL (R-1) ZONE AS PER SECTION <br />106-89(3) OF, THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. <br />Chief Building Official Debbie Wilmore presented stafFs report for a request submitted by <br />W.O. and Carol Childs, who reside at 911. E. "D" Street. The applicants are seeking an <br />appeal of the Building Officiars decision to deny a permit that would allow a shipping. <br />container to be located at their residence. <br />On February 22, 2000, staff investigated a report that was received on February 21, 2000, <br />regarding a shipping container that had been moved onto the property at 911 E. "D". At <br />that time, the applicant inquired about getting a permit in order to keep the container and. on <br />February 24, 2000, the City received a building permit application from the applicant. Staff <br />denied the permit based on Section 106-741(h) of the Code of Ordinances. . <br />Mrs. Wilmore noted that on -March 27, 2000, City Council approved Ordinance 1501-II, <br />which adopted additional regulations regarding the outside storage of shipping containers. <br />
