The Board should <br />make decisions that are good for the City as well as the landowners. Mr. Grant's main concern was <br />addressed with confirmation of the City's firefighting capabilities. <br />Mr. Legrand stated the matter should be tabled until the Planning and Zoning Commission and the <br />City Council have an opportunity to take the height issue under consideration. <br />Mr. Maltsberger felt the Board should come to a decision on the variance. <br />Motion by Bob Capen to approve Variance #V04-009 to exceed the City's standard 45' maximum <br />height requirement for a proposed hotel/motel to be located at 401 West G Street. Second by <br />Charles Schoppe. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Capen, Schoppe, Maltsberger, and Grant <br />Nays: Norwine <br />Abstain: <br />4. CONSIDER SPECIAL EXCEPTION REQUEST #SE04-009, REQUESTED FOR A PROPOSED <br />HOTELIMOTEL TO BE LOCATED: AT 401 WEST G STREET. THE APPLICANT SEEKS A <br />SPECIAL EXCEPTION TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF PARKING SPACE AND MANEUVERING <br />LANE FOR PROPOSED HOTEL AS PRESCRIBED BY SECTION 106-835 (a) 8 (c) OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES. THIS EXCEPTION IS BEING SOUGHT UNDER THE TERMS OF <br />SECTION 106-191 B(3) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE. <br />A. STAFF PRESENTATION <br />Mr. Sabo presented Staffs Report on a special exception request to reduce the size of <br />parking space and maneuvering lane for off-street parking for a proposed hotel/motel at 401 <br />West G Street. <br />B. PROPONENTS <br />There were none. <br />C. OPPONENTS <br />There were none. <br />Motion by Bob Capen to approve Special Exception #SE04-009 to reduce the size of parking space <br />and maneuvering lane for property located at 401 West G Street for a proposed hoteVmotel. Second <br />by Charles Schoppe. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Capen, Schoppe, Maltsberger, Norwine, and Grant <br />Nays: <br />Abstain: <br />5.
