a. Zoning Commission <br />1) The Zoning Commission shall recommend to Council the <br />location of zoning districts and restrictions therein, and <br />shall hold public meeting on such recommendations. <br />2) Commission members shall receive such compensation <br />as Council may deem appropriate. <br />3) Council may combine the duties of said commission with <br />the duties of the Planning Commission, as provided in <br />Section 2.09 through j, to form a Planning and Zoning <br />Commission. <br />b. Zoning Board of Adjustment <br />1) The Zoning Board of Adjustment may, in appropriate <br />cases and subject to appropriate conditions and <br />safeguards, make special exceptions to the terms of a <br />zoning ordinance in harmony with its general purpose <br />and intent and in accordance with general or specific <br />rules therein contained. <br />2) Board members may be compensated as deemed <br />appropriate by Council. <br />3) Generally, all of the powers granted by Revised Civil <br />Statutes of Texas, Articles 1011 a to 1011 j. Inclusive, <br />relating to zoning in cities is part of the City's Charter. <br />D. Housing Authority: <br />Council may create a housing authority of such number, terms and <br />compensation of members as Council may determine and may delegate <br />to the housing authority such powers relating to the planning, construction, <br />reconstruction, alteration, repair, maintenance, or operation of housing <br />projects and housing accommodations as Council may determine. <br />To further assist new Council members, the article "Tips for Mayors and Councilmembers" <br />published by Texas Town & City, is included in a later section. The article briefly identifies some of <br />the issues faced by Mayors and Councilmembers, and provides guidelines on how to address <br />them. <br />
