8. REPORTS <br />a. Present 3rd Quarter CIP Reports to City Council. [Matt Daeumer, Assistant City Manager] <br />The report was received. <br />b. Receive report of the La Porte Development Corporation Board of Directors meeting <br />[Councilperson Chuck Engelken] <br />Mayor Pro Tem Engelken reported the Board authorized an improvements project and incentive <br />agreement at 508 West Main Street and approved the proposed 2022-23 Fiscal Year LPDC budget. <br />9. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />• Drainage and Flooding Committee, September 12 <br />• City Council, September 12 <br />• City Council, September 26 <br />• Planning and Zoning Commission, September 15 <br />City Manager Alexander advised the Council that a survey had been placed at their seats for feedback <br />and options for the new city hall and that he would address the concerns about equipment at the La <br />Porte Fitness Center. <br />10. COUNCIL COMMENTS Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda; <br />items of community interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information or <br />existing policy from the Mayor, Councilmembers, and City staff, for which no formal action will <br />be discussed or taken. <br />Councilpersons congratulated employees recognized for longevity and Victor Martinez as the <br />Employee of the Quarter and agreed that concerns need to be addressed regarding the equipment at <br />the Fitness Center. <br />11. EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />a. Texas Government Code Section 551.072 - Deliberation regarding the purchase, exchange, <br />lease, or value of real property. The City Council will meet in closed session with the City <br />Manager and Assistant City Attorney to discuss the potential purchase of real property <br />located in the City of La Porte. <br />The Council adjourned into executive session at 7:32 p.m. <br />12. RECONVENE into open session and consider action, if any, on item(s) discussed in executive <br />session. <br />The Council reconvened in open session at 7:55 p.m. Mayor Pro Tem Engelken moved to authorize <br />the City Manager to move forward with the purchase of property for $20.000.00; the motion was <br />seconded by Councilperson Bentley; the motion was adopted, 9-0. <br />The Mayor announced the Council had directed the City Manager to continue negotiations on another <br />piece of property and to place the item on a future agenda. <br />ADJOURN — Without objection, the meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m. <br />Lee Woodward, City Secretary <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />August 22, 2022, Council Meeting Minutes <br />
