Section 5 <br />Preserve NASA Funding Levels <br />NASA Advocacy Trip to Capitol Hill Planned for June 5 –8, 2012 <br />On March 29, Citizens for Space Exploration (CSE), held its multi-state planning <br />meeting for the upcoming Washington,D.C., trip June 5-8, 2012, to meet with <br />members of Congress.Local members met with partners from Alabama, <br />Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Ohio to work on details of the trip. CSE, a <br />multi-state grassroots space advocacy group, is organizing its 21st annual trip to <br />Washington.BAHEP members areinvitedto join this group of concerned citizens <br />tomeet with members of Congress to inform and educate them about the <br />importance of a robust human space exploration program and a fully-funded <br />NASA budget.For the past 20 years, representatives from CSE have traveled to <br />Washington, to meet with members of Congress to discuss the benefits of space <br />exploration and to ask for their support of an adequately funded U.S. human space <br />exploration program. Last year, 88 travelers from 24 states once again sought <br />congressional support for a robust, human space exploration program. Over the <br />course of two days, the travelers made 330 meetings with members of Congress <br />or their staff. <br />NASA JSC Explores Opportunities andPartnerships with BayTech <br />Kim Morris,Bob Mitchelland Dan Seal, representing BayTech, met with the <br />NASA JSC Strategic Opportunities and Partnerships Development Officeto <br />discuss roles and methods to enhance development of collaboration between <br />NASA,industry and academia. Following this meeting, Morris, Seal and C.A. <br />Shieldsof BAHEP, accompanied members of NASA’s Strategic Opportunities <br />and Partnership Development Office on a high level tour ofNASA JSC’s <br />structure laboratory, the acoustic and vibrations laboratory, the arch-jet thermal <br />testing facility, the advanced manufacturing facility. These facilities will be <br />offered to future business partners through the BayTech consortium. <br />Methodist Hospital Explores Collaborations with Aerospace Industry <br />Bob Mitchell and Dan Seal of BAHEP met with Alan Lumsden M.D and Miguel <br />Quinones M.D FACC from Methodist Hospital to explore new collaborations <br />between the medical and aerospace industries. Methodist Hospital has been <br />instrumental in forming similar collaborationsinthemedical and energy <br />industries. These collaborations can result in new product development and new <br />job creations. <br />State of Region Address to National Contact Management Association <br />Conference <br />The keynote address to the National Contract Management Association(NCMA) <br />Space City Houston Chapter 2012 Small BusinessConference was given by <br />BAHEP President Bob Mitchell at the South Shore Harbour Resort and <br />Convention Center.Mitchell gave an update on the NASA budget and described <br />the growth opportunities in the aerospace, aviation, healthcare, retail, and <br />17 <br /> <br />
