Recent commercial developments,including those <br />at Ellington Airportand Ellington Field were highlighted. <br />Energy Symposium to be Held at NASA Johnson SpaceCenter <br />Dan Seal of BAHEP facilitated an introductory meeting between NASAJSC’s <br />Strategic Opportunities and Partnerships Development Officeand Lane Sloan, <br />chair of the Greater Houston Partnership Energy Collaborative.The purpose of <br />the meeting was to begin planning a one-day energy symposium to beheld on the <br />NASA JSC campus in June 2012. <br />NASA JSC Briefed on Strategic Opportunities with Port of Houston <br />BAHEP participated in an industry outreach and pursuit plan program with <br />NASA Johnson Space Center’s Office of Strategic Opportunities and Partnerships <br />Development. BAHEP provided a briefing on opportunities within the Portof <br />Houston’s, maritime, logistics, and advanced manufacturing industries. <br />BAHEP Supports NASA JSC Briefing to Energy Collaborative Group <br />BAHEP’s Dan Seal accompanied NASA Johnson Space Center’s Linda Ham and <br />Michele Gonzales with the Office of Strategic Opportunities and Partnership <br />Development who attendedthe Greater Houston Partnership’s Energy <br />Collaborative Committee meeting. The purpose was to brief energy officials <br />about this committee on NASA JSC’s new business outreach and collaboration <br />initiatives. <br />U.S. –India: Commercializing SpaceOpportunities Seminar <br />BAHEP’s Dan Seal was the introductory speaker at the U.S. Dept. of <br />Commerce’s India’s Program & Procurement Seminar for U.S. Companies. The <br />seminar shared how U.S. companies can take part in sales to the India Space <br />Research Organization,which will launch more space satellites than any other <br />country in the next 10 years. The seminar was held at the NASA JSC Gilruth <br />Center. <br />Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program(SATOP) <br />Small Businesses Appreciate Help Provided by SATOP’s Alliance Partners <br />Recently, a small business in Katy, Texas, Smart Pipe Company, received <br />technical assistance from Lockheed Martin to help solve issues with a product that <br />prevents corrosion of pipes or restores badly corroded pipes to near pristine <br />condition. Steve Catha, Smart Pipe’s director of Special Projects, said, “The <br />entire (SATOP) project was handled in a focused, systematic method with all <br />concepts explored fully… we benefited greatly from the experience and the <br />evaluation.” This is just one of many statements of gratitude the SATOP staff <br />receives each month. <br />Small Businesses in Region Receive Technical Assistance <br />SATOP completed its free technical assistance to two small businesses in the <br />region and received fivenew requests for technical assistance.SATOP’s Alliance <br />18 <br /> <br />
