EMS Billing Services <br />City of La Porte RFP #20510 <br />11. Describe how you are currently compliant with HIPAA and identify theft protection? <br />EMERGICON billing and collection services are fully compliant with the Consumer Credit Protection <br />Act, Texas Debt Collection Act, Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and all other laws <br />applicable to this type of activity. We maintain the confidentiality of all medical and patient information <br />in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996(HIPAA). <br />MOT. PCS and other related information needed to submit a bill. <br />Our billing process begins after patient transport is concludedand the chart is completed, closed, and <br />locked. Run sheets (ePCR) are then imported into our ambulance billing software. Our billing <br />specialists review the ePCR to confirm that no data was lost on import. This may include key details <br />that are important in the billing process. EMERGICON billers will manually review the chart and <br />assign the billing codes (e.g., ALS, BLS, Resident, Non-Resident). Once the claim is coded, our team <br />completes payer research. <br />Billing and Collection Procedure11), when runs <br />, our ESO <br />Billing Software timestamps any record and then imports the claim. How do you handle any discrepancies noted in an ePCR? <br />If EMERGICON notices any discrepancy in the ePCR, our Billing Lead will work directly with the <br />contact (the individual responsible for billing and/or quality assurance) to <br />coordinate the resolution of that discrepancy. This is possible because we rely on humansnot <br />computersto review each claim manually. <br />14. Describe the policies and commitments you have in place to comply with all Federal and State <br />laws governing insurance billing requirements. <br />As stated above, EMERGICON billing and collection services are fully compliant with the Consumer <br />Credit Protection Act, Texas Debt Collection Act, Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and all <br />other laws applicable to this type of activity.
