City of La Porte Fairmont Park Lift Station
Attachment A Scope and Budget of Engineering Services

information regarding force main discharge elevation (City records of manhole inspection reports,
confirmation by City crew, and/or available elevation information in models).

2. Geotechnical
A. Tasks: Define subsurface conditions and soil engineering properties.
B. Questions/Information: Primarily soil loads for new structure design, types of soils which affect
trench/excavation safety, and groundwater. Not likely to be required if site excavation is minimal and
limited to the line depths.
C. Alternate Source: Previous geotechnical reports for this site.

3. Electrical:
A. Tasks: It has been stated it is preferred to maintain the existing "pump horsepower" ratings in order
to re-use the primary feed and standby power. Given the existing pumps appear to be rated for 1100
gpm, and the velocity in the existing 8-inch force main is near the maximum 6 fps maximum velocity, it is
unlikely there will be an increase in pump capacity without an increase in force main size. Additionally,
horsepower can be affected by deterioration of the existing force main.
B. Question/Information: This task will largely depend on the final pump capacity for design, and if
existing feed/generator requires significant re-location.
C. Alternate Source: Existing plans will require confirmation in the field.

3 of 3
