City of La Porte Fairmont Park Lift Station
Attachment A Scope and Budget of Engineering Services

1. Preliminary Plans: Based on the direction reached as a result of the preliminary report,
develop a preliminary site plan showing the general pump arrangement, wet well (construction
or rehabilitation), relocation and removal of existing equipment, new piping arrangement,
summary of anticipated pump operations (e.g. pump sequence, flow control, anticipated pump
performance), and construction phasing limitations to be considered by the contractor during
construction. In addition to the pumps, the City will need to advise of any concerns about the
existing force main condition. The budget does not include assessment or modifications to the
existing force main.
2. Subconsultant Tasks: Based on the findings of the Preliminary Design, identify the need and
scope of survey, geotechnical, and electrical services required and procure the services.
3. Final Plans: Complete a final set of plans showing existing facilities to remain and to be
removed/rehabilitated; proposed structures; equipment; piping; electrical; and site
improvements to be included.
4. Specifications: Provide technical specifications that describe materials of construction,
installation procedures and testing.
5. City will provide direction concerning equipment manufacturer qualification based on City
policy/procedures.
6. Final Bid Documents: SPI will provide the bid form. The opinion of probable construction costs
will be
the Engineer.
7. Bid Phase: City will have the primary responsibility for receipt of bids. SPI will assist in
preparation of addenda, provide tabulation of bids, recommendation of award, and assist in
the execution of the contracts.
8. Construction Phase Services: City will primary responsibility for management and oversight of
construction

A project schedule will be developed as future authorizations are initiated.

Potential Subconsultant Services

The following services require further definition of need and level of effort which are dependent on
direction resulting from the Preliminary Design Phase. Authorizations will be requested and approved at
a later date. The following is a brief summary of tasks and factors affecting the scope.

1. Survey:
A. Tasks: Site surveys
B. Questions/Information: Determine accuracy of information reflected on existing drawings,
and hydraulic operation conditions. This would primarily be needed if excavation is needed for a wet
well or major line work. Definition of hydraulic conditions is primarily related to elevation of the lift
station to the force main discharge at the manhole.
C. Alternate Source: Critical field measurements between structures (by SPI office staff). City
2 of 3
