The award is now available to teachers/professors, youth <br />(ages 5-25), and school-based service-learning coordinators to implement service-learning <br />projects for National Youth Service Day 2004, April 16-18. <br /> <br />National Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world, mobilizes youth as leaders <br />to identify and address the needs of their communities through service and service-learning, <br />supports youth on a lifelong path of service and civic engagement, and educates the public, <br />the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as <br />community leaders. <br /> <br />One hundred grants of $1,000 are available to youth, teachers/professors, and school- <br />based service-learning coordinators. To apply, take advantage of our NEW ON-LINE <br />APPLICATION. For printed copies of the application, send a written request and a self- <br />addressed stamped envelope to: Good Neighbor Service-Learning Award, C/o Written <br />Request, Youth Service America, 1101 15th Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20005. <br />Submit a complete application postmarked by December 8,2003. <br />To learn more about this grant and National Youth Service Day, please visit our website at <br />www.YSA.orgLny.sQ to access resources to help you develop a great service project and <br />prepare a quality grant application. <br /> <br />:> Youth Leaders for Literacy Grants (Past Deadline) <br /> <br />The National Education Association and Youth Service America jointly sponsor the Youth <br />Leaders for Literacy initiative to inspire youth-led reading-related service projects.
