ORDINANCE NO. ___________ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 70“TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES” OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, BY ESTABLISHING <br />REGULATIONS FOR DISABLED PARKING;PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE;PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON <br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF <br />A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN A SUM NOT TO <br />EXCEED ONE THOUSAND TWOHUNDRED FIFTYDOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR <br />THE PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTION HEREOF; FINDING COMPLIANCEWITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />: <br />Section 1. <br />Chapter 70, “Traffic and Vehicles,” Article V “Stopping, Standing and Parking”, <br />of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte, Texas, is hereby amended by adding new <br />Section 70-184, which shall hereinafter read as follows,to wit: <br />“Sec. 70-184. Disabled Parking Violations. <br />(a)In this section the following definitions shall apply: <br />Disabled Parking Placardmeans the placard issued by the state under Section 681.002 of the <br />Texas Transportation Code, as amended. <br />Disabled Personmeans a person who has a permanent or temporary disability within the meaning <br />of Section 681.001 of the Texas Transportation Code, as amended, and who has applied for and received: <br />(A)a disabled person or disabled veteran license plate from the state : <br />(B)a disabled parking placard from the state; or <br />(C)a license plate of placard bearing the international symbol of access issued by a <br />state or by a state or province of a foreign country. <br />Disabled Person License Platemeans the specially designed license plate of a vehicle, issued by <br />the state to a permanently disabled person under Section 504.201 of the Texas Transportation Code,as <br />amended. <br />DisabledVeteran License Platemeans the specially designed license plate of a vehicle, issued by <br />the state to a disabled veteran under Section 504.202 of the Texas Transportation Code, as amended. <br />International Symbol of Accesshas a meaning assigned in Section 681.001 of the Texas <br />Transportation Code, as amended. <br /> <br />
