<br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING DRAFT SEPTEMBER 20, 2012 <br />8)Continue to fund and implement an aggressive maintenance program <br />and annual water line replacement program. This has become <br />particularly important due to deficiencies identified during the <br />drought, e.g., some of the existing concrete asbestos piping in <br />has shown not to be as durable as other types of piping, and thu <br />be prioritized for replacement. <br />9)Periodically update the Water Master Plan, Water Conservation Pl <br />and Drought Contingency Plan to reflect changing conditions. <br />GOAL 4: Sufficient and efficient wastewater systems and capacity to <br />accommodate the build-out population and compliance with state/f <br />regulations. <br /> <br />Actions and Initiatives <br />1)Conduct a feasibility study to determine if the wastewater treat <br />plant (WWTP) can be improved to increase the total available qua <br />reuse water and to determine where additional public or private <br />opportunities in the City might be located. <br />2)Continue to allocate approximately $350,000 annually to combat <br />infiltration and inflow (I/I) problems and thus, minimize the am <br />water reaching the WWTP that does not need to be treated. <br />3)Continue to allocate funding, as needed, to conduct lift station <br />evaluation studies as means for identifying the highest priority <br />stations to be replaced, consolidated, or eliminated. Currently, <br />should be allocated to upgrade the following projects as identif <br />most recent Lift Station Evaluation Study: <br />a.Lift Station 19; <br />b.Lift Station 37 (scheduled for completion Jan. 2012); <br />c.Lift Station 14; and <br />d.Lift Station 13. <br />4)Continue to allocate funding to replace, consolidate, or elimina <br />one lift annually per the recommendations identified in the lift <br />evaluation studies. <br />5)Continue to apply for Community Development Block Grant <br />Police Headquarters <br />(CBDG) funds to increase the resiliency of infrastructure system <br /> <br />This should include, among other things, purchasing additional <br />backup generators at the WWTP to ensure sufficient operational <br />capacity during power outages. <br />Focus Area 3 Maintaining and Improving Public Safety <br />Services <br />An increase in population, combined with new development and <br />redevelopment, will create an increased demand for public safety <br />services.
