<br />The committee's preferred goals, strategies and actions are as follows: <br /> <br />1 st Priority Goal: Better Quality of Life for Northside Neighborhood <br /> <br />. Decrease places where crimes occur <br />. Make changes that lead to a safer environment <br />. Build a strong system to support housing, jobs, and business opportunities <br />. Strengthen community assets and shared vision <br />. Fight street crimes <br />. Involve owner/manager and residents of apartment complex <br />. Increase police presence in the neighborhood <br />. Increase citizen/police communication and cooperation <br /> <br />2nd Priority Goal: New Affordable Housing for Northside <br /> <br />. Encourage new affordable housing <br />. Attract new home buyers to neighborhood <br />. Make community commitment to neighborhood improvement <br /> <br />3rd Priority Goal: A More Beautiful Northside <br /> <br />. Beautify residences and businesses <br />. Beautify public facilities <br />. Beautify the neighborhood boundaries <br /> <br />4th Priority Goal: Better Northside Infrastructure <br /> <br />. Improve infrastructure conditions <br />. Improve public transportation <br /> <br />Presentation and Adoption of the Plan: <br /> <br />As the plan progressed, the consultant reviewed its contents and received suggestions for <br />revisions, additions, and priorities from the committee members and staff. <br /> <br />The planning process spread over several months concluding with a summary presentation to <br />City Council at the retreat held July 08, 2000. <br /> <br />Subsequent to the retreat, the draft plan was presented to the Northside community at a townhall <br />meeting at the Jennie Riley Community Center on July 13, 2000. <br /> <br />City Council adopted the Northside Neighborhood Plan on September 08, 2000. <br />
