.

,

e

e

Mr. Robert T. Herrera
City Manager
City of La Porte

May 19, 1988
Page 2

November 7, 1988
(Monday)

Call a special meeting at 6:00 P.M., for the
first public hearing~

November 14, 1988
(Monday)

December 12, 1988
(Monday)

Conduct the second public hearing at the
Regular Meeting of City Council~

Pass final Annexation Ordinance at regular City
Council meeting~ Ordinance to have effective
date of December 31, 1988.

I strongly suggest that Cherie Black, City Secretary, take the
Intent to Annex Ordinance to the newspaper as early as possible,
after its passage, and have them submit a proof of the legal notice
to her, so that she can carefully proofread it, before the
publications.

As we discussed, I would suggest you appoint a staff member, such as
Steve Gillett, to attend all future BMUD Board meetings.
Essentially, the BMUD Board should take no particular actions out of
the day to day routine of conducting its business, other than
setting its budgets, and passing its tax rate resolution this Fall.'
All service contracts by BMUD should be reviewed, for expiration
dates, and, as soon as City Council approves, possible
implementation of new contracts whereby the City of La Porte would
provide the various services, prior to annexation, in order to
obtain the revenue.

Yours very truly,

~

Knox W.
