The City <br />furnishes citizens with plastic bags for garbage and <br />these are picked up two times a week. No empty garbage <br />cans line the streets. <br /> <br />Also, the City picks up trash two times a month-- <br />ANYTHING YOU PUT OUT. Many people feel that this is a <br />good swap--trash pick up two times a month for backdoor <br />pick up. <br /> <br />7. The large, heavy garbage pick up trucks of La Porte will tear <br />up the narrow streets in Bay Colony, B~yside Terrace, others. <br /> <br />(a) Old La Porte also has narrow steets, so the City has <br />knowledge of how to handle this problem. Also remember <br />that the City of La Porte is responsible for street <br />maintenance. If the garbage truck tears it up, the <br />City must repair the street. <br /> <br />8. La Porte will allow light industry and/or shipping containers <br />to take over the vacant land east of New Highway 146 <br />(Lakeland/Heights Savings property). <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />According to state law, when a city annexes property, it <br />is all automatically zoned residential for at least <br />TWO YEARS. Any change in this zoning must be approved <br />by the City Council. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Remember, while only in the County the vacant land could <br />be used for almost any purpose. If in La Porte, one can <br />have a voice in what the City Council considers. <br /> <br />". <br />
