0 • <br />• <br />Page 8 of 12 <br />SUBJECT: SICK LEAVE <br />1. Each permanent employee shall be allowed sick leave at <br />the ratio of 1 and 1/4 working days for each full month <br />of the employee's service, and any such accrued but unused <br />portion shall be accunulated up to a macimum of sixty <br />(60) working days. <br />2. Leave with full pay granted for illness shall not <br />exceed sixty (60) working days in any one calendar <br />Year. Should the illness last longer than sixty (60) <br />days the employee shall be requested to take the unused <br />portion of his vacation time. <br />3. In case of serious illness or injury which would require <br />more time off than specified in paragraph 1 and 2, the <br />City Commission, at their option, may review each case, <br />on a monthly basis, to determine further pay. <br />4. <br />• <br />5. <br />Employees who are absent from work because of <br />must report their absence to their department <br />by 8:00 A.M. on date of illness. Any employe <br />make such report will be penalized by having <br />chanaed to leave without Pay. <br />illness <br />heads <br />All Department Heads shall make spot checks of illness <br />of employees from time to time to be assured that sick <br />privileges are not abused. Abuse of sick leave privileges <br />is reason for dismissal. <br />6. Department Heads are responsible for reporting sick leave <br />time to the personnel office. <br />7. Termination pay will be authorized for unused Sick Leave <br />for terminating employees up to sixty (60) working days <br />for each employee who has completed five (5) years of <br />continuous employment with the City of La Porte. <br />However, an employee who terminates and receives <br />authorized payment of sick leave will not be rehired by <br />the City within one year unless or until said employee <br />reimburses the City for payment received for unused Sick <br />Leave. <br />0 <br />
