w <br />STATE OF .TEXAS X <br />KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: <br />COUNTY OF HARRIS X <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />are concerned that all taxable properties within the City be taxed on a fair <br />and equitable basis, and <br />WHEREAS, there is some indication that all properties may not currently <br />be taxed on a completely equitable basis, now <br />THEREFORE, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />have determined that it would be wise and to the best interest of said City that <br />all taxable real property and land within the City that are subject to appraisal <br />for City taxes, and/or "in lieu of taxes" payments, be appraised by experts <br />skilled in the matter of making such appraisals for tax purposes; said experts <br />to compile current appraisals on all the aforementioned properties and furnish <br />data and information to the City's Tax Assessor -Collector and Board of Equalization <br />for the purpose of equalizing the values of such properties as compared with other <br />property valuations in said City for tax purposes for the tax year 1978 and to up- <br />date these appraisals as necessary for the tax years 1979 and 1980; said data and <br />information to be made available in respect to all of such properties properly and <br />lawfully cominq before the Board of Equalization for said years; for consideration <br />in the equalization of values upon renditions made by the owners thereof and/or <br />upon renditions and/or assessments made by the Tax Assessor -Collector of the <br />City of La Porte, Texas, where the owner or owners may fail to render same; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has employed the firm of Biggs, Landrum and <br />Associates, of Houston, Harris County, Texas, for tax appraisal services for the <br />City since 1967; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />find that the firm of Biggs, Landrum and Associates has performed the services <br />called for in prior contracts in a completely satisfactory manner, and have <br />adequately demonstrated their skills and expertise in the matter of making apprai- <br />sals for tax purposes; and <br />-1- <br />
