0 0 <br />OUR POLICY <br />The City of La Porte provides steady employment and job <br />security. We believe that a contented and well informed <br />employee is a better employee. We hope to place you in the <br />type of work suitable to your ability, interest, and training. <br />NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY <br />The City of La Porte will comply with the requirements of <br />Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. There will be no <br />distinction made on the grounds of sex, race, color, creed, <br />or national origin; in the use of equipment and other facil- <br />ities; and the employment, assignment or promotion of personnel <br />to provide services. <br />There will be no discrimination on the grounds of sex, <br />race, color, creed, or national origin in the employment of an <br />individual. <br />The City of La Porte will comply with the requirements of <br />Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (HEW). No qualified handi- <br />capped person shall, on the basis of handicap, be subject to <br />discrimination in our employment practices. <br />BEHAVIOR <br />You are expected to control your temper. We cannot permit <br />arguments between employees for any reason. Count to ten and <br />think it over. Remember, no angry person ever won an argument. <br />Unauthorized reading of newspapers and magazines, sewing, knit- <br />ting are prohibited while on duty. <br />The use of intoxicating beverages, non-prescription drugs, <br />and foul or profane language is positively prohibited while on <br />duty and is grounds for immediate dismissal. <br />Employees are not to receive gratuities for any service <br />rendered. You should courteously refuse all gratuities offered <br />to you by vendors and/or citizens. <br />What you do on your own time away from the City of LaPorte <br />is your busi_nes5 only as long as it does not reflect unfavorably <br />on the City of La Porte. <br />CONDUCT AND APPEARANCE <br />As the City of La Porte should be upheld as a model of <br />cleanliness, employees should continuously be alert to their <br />own personal appearance. Torn, soiled, or untidy clothing or <br />uniforms will not be permitted. <br />Walk as quietly as possible and modulate your voice so <br />that other employees will not be disturbed by unnecessary noise. <br />
