0 0 OUR POLICY The City of La Porte provides steady employment and job security. We believe that a contented and well informed employee is a better employee. We hope to place you in the type of work suitable to your ability, interest, and training. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY The City of La Porte will comply with the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. There will be no distinction made on the grounds of sex, race, color, creed, or national origin; in the use of equipment and other facil- ities; and the employment, assignment or promotion of personnel to provide services. There will be no discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, color, creed, or national origin in the employment of an individual. The City of La Porte will comply with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (HEW). No qualified handi- capped person shall, on the basis of handicap, be subject to discrimination in our employment practices. BEHAVIOR You are expected to control your temper. We cannot permit arguments between employees for any reason. Count to ten and think it over. Remember, no angry person ever won an argument. Unauthorized reading of newspapers and magazines, sewing, knit- ting are prohibited while on duty. The use of intoxicating beverages, non-prescription drugs, and foul or profane language is positively prohibited while on duty and is grounds for immediate dismissal. Employees are not to receive gratuities for any service rendered. You should courteously refuse all gratuities offered to you by vendors and/or citizens. What you do on your own time away from the City of LaPorte is your busi_nes5 only as long as it does not reflect unfavorably on the City of La Porte. CONDUCT AND APPEARANCE As the City of La Porte should be upheld as a model of cleanliness, employees should continuously be alert to their own personal appearance. Torn, soiled, or untidy clothing or uniforms will not be permitted. Walk as quietly as possible and modulate your voice so that other employees will not be disturbed by unnecessary noise.
